Logo & Website Design for Fiddlesticks Farm

Clever Squirrel created a bold brand and website design for Asheville’s cutest little family-owned sustainable flower farm.

For this project, farm founder Joan Walker and I agreed on a key point about the design approach: we wanted to buck the well-worn trends of wedding-focused floral design websites. Instead of using the ubiquitous airy, feminine aesthetics, minimalist color palettes, and scripty-scrolly typography that most wedding industry-adjacent marketing leans on, we wanted boldness and pop.

One reason behind our offbeat approach is that Joan is a bit of an evangelist for the idea that fresh, locally-grown flowers should be for everyone because indulging ourselves the little pleasures in life can positively impact our overall well-being. Joan believes that we shouldn’t have to wait for special occasions to treat ourselves by bringing the beauty and sensory delights of nature inside our homes. We thought that giving the website more unexpected visual interest could help to communicate with a wider local audience in our funky, eco-conscious mountain town of Asheville, NC.
